Egg Hunt! 2 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 2
Hi everyone!

The first annual West End Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 11, at the West End Park. The time is still TBD, but I'm thinking late morning (around 11 AM or so), but I will update when that's been pinned down. It's for kids only, preferably 10 and under, and they should ideally have a guardian of some type attend with them. If you have kids, or you have neighbors with kids, please invite them! We really want this to be a success so that it can become a yearly tradition in the West End.

We also are in need of donations. I've purchased several plastic eggs, and I think we're up to about 200 of them. (You can get a bag of 48 eggs for $2 at Target.) We still need more eggs as we're being optimistic and would like roughly 300 total. We also need egg fillings! Wrapped candy (such as Snickers minis, smartees, etc. - anything in a wrapper that will fit in a plastic egg), small prizes, even loose change, etc. We're hoping to get a few larger prizes donated from local businesses, such as $5 gift cards to McDonalds or the like, and perhaps a few chocolate rabbits or Easter plushies, etc. If you know of any companies that might be willing to help out or have contacts that I can get in touch with, that would be awesome. I know that times are tight, but a little goes a long way with events like this. Let's make an event that the kids will talk about all year and look forward to each spring!

We'll have fliers available at the next WEND meeting for you to take to your neighbors, etc.

Thanks everyone!

Mary

I would like to help as well. Just let me know what I can do...
I am sure that Oliver will enjoy watching kids Egg Hunting this year
We will donate 2 bags of plastic eggs and some prizes. I will get them to you at the beginning of next week.

Mary,

You know I am in. I forgot to email McDonald to see if they are willing to donate to the cause. But I am going to do that ASAP.

I just want to know if I am too old to hunt for eggs?

Thanks, Vonda! And you're not to old to help us help the kids hunt for eggs! We're going to need some adult volunteers to keep an eye on things and if you pick up one of your own, I might turn a blind eye.

Thanks, Ewelina! Last year our old neighborhood had an egg hunt and I thought it would be a lot of fun for Frankie to have one in his neighborhood each year, so I'm glad that we started this tradition. Next year, Oliver will get to participate!

Mary,

Exactly this is what I am counting on - to have it next year as well so kids including Oliver can enjoy it. I think that this is a great idea!

Thanks

Hi everyone! Just a quick note to let you know that the egg hunt is still on. We've finished a flyer and will have lots of copies at the WEND meeting for you to distribute to your neighbors that have kids. Also, we're still in need of egg fillers (wrapped candy, small prizes) and bigger prizes - plushies, chocolate rabbits, dollar bills, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, etc. We'll need about 10 bigger prizes - special eggs will be hidden with a note to redeem for prize.

If you can't donate items, how about time? We'll have an 'egg stuffing' party at my house the Thursday prior to the hunt (April 9th) and we'll need volunteers to help hide eggs and supervise during the hunt. This should be a fairly short event - less than an hour - and it should also be a lot of fun!

Thanks everyone for your support!
