I follow politics alot and I was wondering what people believe will make Obama's presidency successful? I have heard that with this 850 BILLION stimulus package that he wants will help bring back the economy from a depression. He says that he will create 3 million jobs. He also said that he would withdraw the troops from Iraq. When will that be when he said withdrawal? Is this 3 months or 2 and a half years? I am curious what change means to you. We have never been told what Change is and what it will be. Based on His appointements it looks like business as usual, Particinship. I just want to put people on the record as to what they think will happen the next four years. He is My president and respect him for that but I am skeptical of what will be accomplished. I want him to be very successful and to keep us from being victims of terrorist attacks. Anyway, I am very interested in your thoughts.

Peter Schiff was right

I am skeptical of all politicians. I am also nervous about spending more money we don't have - it didn't work the first time around, what makes anyone think another 850 Billion is a good idea? While we are all tightening our belts and paying more for less services, we should focus on the most important issues instead of politicians's pet projects (how do you think these bills swell to such outrageous sums?) I'm all for a multi-party system; this one-party thing is just a big mess - it was last time and it will be this time. I'm a cynic. I really hope that Obama can do what he's promised. He is the president and I respect that. I hope that, in four years, we can look back and see what it looks like to 'walk the walk' rather than just 'talk the talk.' But I'm probably not the person you wanted to reply to this, so I'll let it slide and see what other people have to say on the topic.

I don't follow politics as much as I should, but here is my two cents. Artificial stimulus packages don't work. Nine out of ten times, when the government steps into the mix, the messes things up worst in the long run. Sometimes it is best to make the market work things out by itself. Government should never step in when someone or some company, for that matter, has been fiscally irresponsible. If they do, that person or company will never learn its lesson and in twenty years we will be right back where we are now. However, we also know that the market is very cut throat and if left to its own design all that happens is the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, so there must be some tiny form government control, because humans are greedy in nature. Remember the industrial age

What Americans must learn to do is save. How many of us have 6-12 months of savings to live off. Probably less than 20% . But we should save. Economics 101 teaches that all economies go through busts and booms and we should prepare for that but Americans got lazy and forgot that busts are unavoidable, because we had it so good for so long.

If this package was geared mostly to create jobs, and I don't mean unnecessary jobs. But jobs that fix our infrastructure, jobs that put more teachers in schools etc. Then I would be more comfortable with it. But with 325 billion going to tax cut? I am skeptical. Who will get these cuts, I wonder? But I know who will be paying for the stimulus package.

When all is said and done we must pray for our president, our senators,congress people, and our country. We should voice our opinion when we think they are wrong and support them when they are right.
