Trash Dumping Problems! 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Dear Neighbors,

We have just purchased a bungalow on Cascade Place in West End which we intend to fix-up and move to in the near future...However, when we came to preview it...tons of trash have been dumped in the back area. We intend to have it cleaned up and fenced...but what do we do in the mean time? Last time we came to see the house even more trash was strewn all over the driveway. Disgusting bags of open garbage, etc...Can anything be done to hault this mess?

Thanks,

Scott & Olga

Scott,

Not really sure what can be done to contain the problem you are facing without fencing and surveillance. One thing you could do is contact the Zone 4 precinct (404-756-1903) and let them know that illegal dumping is taking place at your property. Also, maybe you could install a couple post with a chain to prevent vehicles from going up the driveway until you move it. Maybe someone may have some other ideas they could post for you.

I know the NPU-T map that is on this site is confusing, but Cascade Pl is in a neighborhood next-door called Beecher-Donnelly. Here is the good news... They have an active Neighborhood Association that is actively working to correct neighborhood issues just like they one you are dealing with. I know they would be excited to know about a new neighbor with similar interests. The Beecher-Donnelly neighborhood is sandwiched between the southern portion of West End and Westview, so you are in good company . It also boarders the Beltline, so expect good things to come. Best to you on your move in the future.

Also if you have tires on the property, there is a tire and electonic clean up on April 24th form 9am to 1pm at the blue lot at Turner field. I hope this helps

Dear Corbu,

Thanks for your helpful input on the trash dumping. We are having a dumpster and a person witha bulldozer doing the clean-up this Sat. We hope it stays clean!

Be on the lookout for the truck pictured in the photos below - if you see one looking like it, get the license plate # and post it here, or tell me, etc.

Several of us were climbing at the Quarry Sat June 25 2011 when someone drove up to about the base of the scree and illegally dumped a pile of trash (old box spring, wood, child's safety seat, etc). One of us, Bob, got three good incriminating pictures of the culprit - showing the junk half in the pickup, then the junk on the ground and then the culprit driving away. Unfortunately the photos do not show either the license plate or the culprit's face. However, there is enough detail in the photos to identify the vehicle if one has or finds a suspect - or if someone sees this truck again. For example, the pickup has a white left front side, different in color from the rest of the vehicle, etc. If there is already someone suspected of dumping at the Quarry, this might be useful. Also, if anyone sees that truck again as it is driving in, get down there quickly and get their license plate number.

Anyway, here are the photos - be on the look out for this truck! If we can get a license plate # later - even without proof of dumping at that time, then these photos will become very useful to show they were dumping on June 25.
