One of our newest resident, Elliot, thinks it would be a GREAT idea to clean up the beltline.

He proposes we meet on Sundays between 2-3pm and just pick up trash. I like the idea. This is not a organized event but it will allow you to meet and chat with neighbors. So come out this Sunday between 2-3 pm. Bring a trash bag and gloves. If you want more details (there is not much more) email eh@elliotholden.com.

PS I love it went neighbors make an effort to make the neighborhood better.

Dear Neighbor,

What: Pick up trash along the White Street Belt Line
When: Sunday's from 2pm – 3pm
Where: Just meet me at the top of Rose Park, corner of Lowery and White St at 2pm or call me
Why: Just because ... why not? ... who likes trash anyway? Except maybe Oscar on Sesame Street.

This is Elliot at 908 Rose Cir. The other day while driving down White Street heading towards Abernathy I noticed a lot of trash on the Belt Line Trail to my right. Well, “a lot” may be too strong, but it was a enough for me to take notice, lol. So I've decided to take 30-45 minutes on Sundays to walk the little stretch of Belt Line from Rose Park to Abernathy and pick up trash. If anybody wants to join me, send me an email or give me a call at the number listed below. Now, let me be clear: I'm not talking about walking around all of West End and picking up everybody's trash, LOL. All, I'm saying is that the “City” is spending or has spent millions on the Belt Line initiative and I feel the least I can do is help keep our part of it clean.

This is NOT an organized thing by any means. If you have time cool, if not cool I'm just putting the word out on when I'm going to “try” (weather permitting) and be out there picking up trash.
If you see me walking along the Belt Line and want to join in, feel free. If I look hungry you may politely toss me a “Little Debbie” snack cake or the like. Just be sure I see you as to not generate more litter.

You may be asking yourself, “doesn't the City provide/pay someone to do this job? I mean that's why I pay taxes right?”
Well I don't have an authoritative answer on that but I can say that I have seen someone from the “City” picking up trash on several occasions. I think I see him like once every other week or so. Well, I just started thinking to myself, whoever is responsible for this job, it's obviously not going to be enough to keep up with the overwhelming boneheads who feel inclined to litter up the Belt Line, lol. So anyway, hit me up if you ever want to join in.

Sincerely

Elliot Holden

I should be able to make it tomorrow. We need to talk to the principal at Brown and see if he can do an anti-litter campaign.

I would like to thank our Council woman Cleta winslow, Marshall and all the volunteers that came out two weekends ago to clean up West End. Since then I have seen Cleta's Volunteers cleaning up Oglethorpe and Lowery. This included raking up leaves on both streets that I just mentioned and cleaning up trash left over from a homeless guy on Lowery and a renter that just moved out and threw out his trash all over the siewalk. These are just a couple of locations that I noticed. Great job cleta and Marshall. Thank you so much again to all of the volunteers.

Hi everyone,

I dont know about you but I stopped picking up trash on Sundays. But the place looks bad. I am going start again at 2pm this Sunday. Let's all try to pick up trash on the Beltline and anywhere else in West End.
