GENERAL MEETING
July 1, 2008
The W.E.N.D., Inc. General Meeting was held Tuesday, July 1rd, in the Community Room of the West End Public Library. Carl Nes, President, called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.

Attendees signed the attendance roster. Those present at the start of the meeting introduced themselves to the collective body.

Bumper sticker design was presented for review.
Motion: To approve #1 design and for WEND to approve the expenditure of to purchase the bumper sticker.
Motion approved 14 votes for approval

Beautification, Vonda Henry, Chair
1) Beecher Street Clean up – Tools from the tool bank was used to cut trees. About 20 people from Beecher Street spend about 3 hours cleaning vacant lots. WEND is a member of the tool bank so if you are a member of WEND and need tools, please call Carl for information on how to rent tools.
2) Major Dallas of zone one has given the Beautification Chair his personal cell phone to call whenever the teenagers are begging on the off Ramps.
3) Rose Circle was named park of the month. We are trying to get a friends of the park started.
Public Safety, John Pavlin, Chair
Officer Bender came to meeting to report on crime.
For quality of life issues call Officer Character 404 756 1903. This is zone four’s telephone.
Noise ordinance - If the neighbor is making noise there is a quiet ordinance in Atlanta 11pm to 7am on weekdays and 12am to 7am on weekends. You can call police to have them stop the noise. To get the police to a crime scene faster tell them the crime is in progress.

Jonathan Kidwell, NPU-T area manager of House Proud (Contact voice 404-880-0054 x20 fax 404-880-9774 email jon@toolbank.org), came to introduce a program that helps seniors repair their homes.
Ceasar Mitchell, Post 1 at Large (contact: voice 404-330-6052, email cmitchell@atlantaga.gov). 1) Property taxes will decrease because the mill rates when down.
2) NPU’s planners have been re-instated.
3) Water rates will increase – 1st year 27%, 2nd year 12.5%, 3rd year12.5%, 12% 4th year.
