Nowadays, West End is enjoying the revival related to the emerging urban living trend, developments coming to the neighborhood, and the most important, mix of socially active people who choose to live here - artists, musicians, professionals. A lot of residents are drawn by the fact that this is the oldest place in Atlanta and a mecca for green movement activists.

Second year in the row, West End Tour of Homes and the opening concert at the Wren’s Nest amphitheatre gathered residents to celebrate our unique community.  We started with a great concert at the famous Wren’s Nest amphitheatre (Wren’s Nest is the oldest house museum in Atlanta and 3rd most popular attraction according to tripadvisor.com )

This year we enjoyed two artists instead of one. Maria Howell and 4th Ward Afro-Klezmer Orchestra played jazz music, which created relaxing atmosphere. Guests enjoyed the music while sharing their food with other neighbors. Unfortunately, unpredictable weather forced us to finish the concert earlier. Strong wind blew the candles out and rain started pouring down on our heads. It happened during Maria Howell’s performance and Vonda Henry’s (mastermind of the event) rain dance. If we have drought in Georgia again, Vonda Henry rain dance can be the perfect solutionSmile Hopefully everybody had a great time, just like I did.

On Saturday and Sunday we enjoyed watching some of the houses in the West End.

The houses represented a wide spectrum of old historic architectural styles . Some of them had a lot of original elements still in place, other undergone major renovations and were modernized with a historic touch.

Here are the pictures I took.

What a beautiful house

Thank you WEND, sponsors, volunteers, and homeowners for making it happen. If you missed this year’s events, I hope you will join us next year.
